New Delhi, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : The 92nd edition of the Fit India ‘Sundays on Cycle’ event took place on September 27, 2026, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in ITO, New Delhi, as part of Hindi Pakhwada 2026. Organized in collaboration with Sulabh International, the initiative aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle through cycling, fitness, and cleanliness.
Under the theme “Pedal for Fitness, Ride for a Cleaner India,” the event attracted a large number of cycling and fitness enthusiasts. The collaboration with Sulabh International emphasized public health and sanitation, while the celebration of Hindi Pakhwada added a cultural dimension to the program.
Notable guests included endurance athlete, ultra-runner, cyclist, and mountaineer Sabita Mahato, fitness model and Mrs. India 2019 Kiran Chhillar, and Fit India ambassador Dr. Prem Prakash Meena. The event commenced with an honoring ceremony for the guests, followed by participants taking a pledge for a drug-free and healthy lifestyle. A cycling rally was then flagged off.
Dr. Meena highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi serves as an inspiration for the youth, even at 76 years old. He called for a nationwide fitness movement and noted that the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative has reached its 92nd edition, reflecting the enthusiasm of the youth for a new fitness revolution in India.
Starting at 5:30 AM, the event saw over 1,000 participants engaging in cycling, yoga, Zumba, and jump rope activities. A 5-kilometer run and cycling ride were also held within the stadium premises.
A special game zone was created for board games like carrom and chess, along with badminton, tug-of-war, and obstacle races, where participants eagerly took part.
Sabita Mahato urged the youth to dedicate at least half an hour to fitness every day, not just on Sundays. She emphasized that maintaining a good habit for 21 consecutive days can make it a part of one’s life, making the development of a regular fitness routine essential.
