New Delhi, August 27: Nepal, India’s neighboring country, is currently grappling with devastating floods. Former Indian cricket all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has expressed his condolences to those affected by the disaster in Nepal.
On social media platform X, Yuvraj Singh wrote, “The floods in Nepal have caused significant destruction. My prayers are with all those impacted, especially families still waiting for their loved ones. I hope the courage of the Nepali people will help them through this challenging time.”
Nepalese cricketers Dipendra Singh Airee and Sandeep Lamichhane have also voiced their concerns regarding the severe floods and landslides affecting various parts of the country. Both cricketers urged the public to stay vigilant and adopt safety measures as conditions worsen.
Airee expressed his sorrow over the devastation caused by the floods and landslides. He specifically warned residents near the Trishuli River to remain cautious and consider relocating to safer areas due to rising water levels.
Sandeep Lamichhane added, “Please avoid rivers, streams, flooded roads, bridges, and other hazardous locations. Water levels can rise rapidly, making familiar places unsafe. If you are in an affected area, stay alert, stay informed, and follow the safety guidelines from local authorities. Please stay safe and look out for one another.”
The sudden flooding of the Bhotekoshi River has wreaked havoc in three districts of Nepal. The catastrophic floods on August 26 were triggered when a tributary of the Bhotekoshi River, the Lhende, was blocked by a landslide. The first area affected was the Timure village in the Rasuwagadhi region near the Nepal-China border.
Reports indicate that there had been no rainfall in the area, leaving residents unaware of the impending disaster. At the time of the flood, people were engaged in their daily activities. So far, 177 fatalities have been confirmed due to the sudden inundation.
During this difficult time for Nepal, India and other countries are extending their support. In light of the water disaster, India has been actively sending relief materials to assist those in need.
