Hyderabad, May 17: A young man has died from injuries sustained during a mob attack after he allegedly cut the throat of a woman who rejected his marriage proposal. Teja, 28, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at a hospital in Mahbubnagar district, Telangana.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening in the town of Jadcherla, where Teja attacked Y. Vaishnavi, 21, a receptionist at a private school, as she was walking home after getting off a bus. The assault took place approximately 100 meters from her home, near the Polpalli Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
According to police reports, the attacker inflicted severe injuries on the woman, who was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately died during treatment. Bystanders apprehended Teja and beat him, binding his hands before throwing stones at him until the police arrived. He was later admitted to Mahbubnagar Government Medical College Hospital, where he died on Sunday morning.
A police officer stated that after Teja attacked Vaishnavi, passersby pursued him and caught him. They restrained him with ropes and assaulted him, resulting in serious injuries.
Police investigations revealed that the accused and the victim had previously known each other while working at a private school in Hyderabad. Vaishnavi had rejected Teja’s proposal, which led to the violent confrontation.
However, after being beaten by the mob, Teja claimed he had been in a relationship with Vaishnavi for several years and accused her of exploiting him for money under the guise of love. He alleged that she not only refused to return his money but also distanced herself from him.
