Mumbai, April 28: A 24-year-old man was brutally murdered with a sharp weapon late Monday night in the Pachamba police area of Giridih district, Jharkhand. The victim has been identified as Taufiq Ansari, who had recently been released from jail.
As Taufiq took his last breaths, he reportedly revealed the names of his attackers, a claim that his family recorded on a mobile device. According to reports, Taufiq was lured under the pretext of a meeting near the Chhadra Bridge in Azad Nagar late at night.
His friend Akhlaq stated that around midnight, Asif Ali, a resident of Ambatand in the Muffasil police area, called Taufiq. Following the call, Taufiq went to the Chhadra Bridge with three friends. Asif Ali was already waiting there with four to five accomplices.
Witnesses reported that as soon as Taufiq arrived, the assailants began to verbally abuse him. When Taufiq protested, they launched a physical attack. In an attempt to escape, Taufiq was chased down, thrown to the ground, and brutally beaten. When family members arrived at the scene, they found Taufiq bleeding and writhing in pain.
Family members claim that in his final moments, Taufiq named Sakib, Arshad, Monu Pathan, and Asif Ali as responsible for his death, a statement captured on video. Upon receiving the news, Pachamba police station chief Rajiv Kumar arrived at the scene, took possession of the body for post-mortem, and recovered the victim’s mobile phone from a nearby drain.
Police investigations revealed that Taufiq had a criminal background and had previously served time in jail. According to the station chief, initial inquiries suggest that the murder may be linked to personal enmity and a power struggle. Special police teams are conducting raids at potential locations to apprehend the suspects.
