Lucknow, April 11 : The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is set to give further impetus to its various schemes centered around farmers of the state by ensuring that not only do the farmers get a better price for their crops but are also freed from the clutches of the middlemen. For this, it is going to set up block-wise 825 FPOs in a year. A budgetary provision of Rs 354.75 crore has already been made for this, Agriculture Department sources said here on Monday. This far-reaching scheme will benefit more than four lakh farmers of the state. This is in continuation of various schemes rolled out by the state government in its first regime wherein they tried to improve the economic conditions of farmers. In the year 2022-23, the state government now is going to set up 825 FPOs under the specific FPO scheme. By doing organized farming, farmers will get a better price for their produce. FPO i.e. Farmer Producer Organization is a group of farmers, who do agricultural production and also carry out agro-business activities. Collective farming will be encouraged through FPO and market will be easily available for farmers to sell their crops. The government will also provide assistance for organic farming under the FPO, which will make it easier to buy fertilizers, seeds, medicines and farm equipment at the same time. Apart from this, processing ts and storage can be arranged and a good price can be obtained for the crop. If the farmer goes to sell his crop alone, the middleman takes advantage of it. There will be no middlemen in the FPO system, so farmers will get a good prices for their produce. This will also empower the farmers. Along with this, the state government is going to select a special crop for every block in 100 days, whose cultivation will be promoted. MB SY 1853
