Yogi, Akhilesh take oath as MLAs in UP Assembly

Lucknow, March 28 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and leader of opposition and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav took oath as members of the 18th Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Yogi Adityanath is also the leader of the BJP legislature party. Protem speaker Ramapati Shastri administered the oath of the assembly membership to Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav in the state assembly on Monday. Satish Mahana, who is tipped to be made the next speaker of the assembly, also took the oath. The new speaker would be elected tomorrow for which nominations would be filed on Monday. However, several ministers scheduled to take the oath were missing. The oath ceremony would be on Tuesday as well. The ruling BJP has a total of 255 members excluding their alliance partners while the SP, main opposition party, has 111 members in the assembly. Before the oath-taking ceremony, Akhilesh Yadav wished other members including the Treasury Bench and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Earlier, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had welcomed all the new members of the assembly and sought cooperation from them for smooth conduct of the assembly. He said that the assembly should conduct fruitful debate and discussions to benefit the people of the state. MB RNJ
