New Delhi, May 9: With Mother’s Day approaching on May 10, the AYUSH Ministry is actively promoting yoga awareness. They encourage people to incorporate yoga into their daily routines. Experts have provided insights into gentle yoga asanas suitable for pregnant women during their first trimester.
According to the AYUSH Ministry, pregnancy is a journey filled with constant changes. Particularly in the first trimester, women must adapt to new physical, emotional, and hormonal experiences. Practicing light yoga and mindful pranayama can help expecting mothers feel peace, balance, and comfort. As we celebrate the strength, care, and endurance of every pregnant mother on Mother’s Day, prioritizing their health is essential.
The first trimester is a crucial period for physical and emotional changes. During this time, light pranayama helps mothers feel more focused, relaxed, and connected to themselves. Experts advise avoiding strenuous or difficult asanas during pregnancy. Instead, they recommend gentle yoga poses that have a mild impact on the body and calm the mind. Suggested asanas range from Tadasana to Shavasana.
Tadasana, or Mountain Pose, helps improve posture and relieve fatigue. Vrikshasana, or Tree Pose, enhances balance and can be practiced with wall support. Dandasana, or Staff Pose, involves sitting upright with legs extended, which strengthens the back. Sukhasana, or Easy Pose, is beneficial for relaxation and is considered ideal for meditation and pranayama. Lastly, Shavasana, or Corpse Pose, promotes complete relaxation, reduces stress, and aids in better sleep.
The AYUSH Ministry advises performing these asanas slowly and carefully. It is crucial to consult a doctor or yoga expert before beginning any practice. Focus on your breath and do not push beyond your body’s limits. The ministry encourages pregnant women to include yoga in their routines. This not only enhances physical health but also fosters mental peace, benefiting both mother and child.
