New Delhi: The Yamunapar Area Development Board (TYADB) has taken significant steps to accelerate development in the Yamunapar region, which houses nearly one-third of Delhi’s population.
In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday, the board approved development plans worth approximately Rs 728 crore. The CM assured that there will be no shortage of budget allocation for Yamunapar’s growth and instructed board members to prioritise projects based on urgent needs.
The meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat was attended by Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, TYADB Chairman and MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely, along with other distinguished board members.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasised that the development of the Trans-Yamuna area remains a top priority for the Delhi government. She stated the government’s vision to make Yamunapar a preferred place to live and work by balancing aesthetic improvements with essential civic infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, flood control, and safe commuting facilities.
The CM expressed concern over the previous government’s inactivity, which had stalled the board’s functioning and caused considerable hardship to the residents of the area.
She assured that all projects recommended by the board would be executed without any budget constraints. With the upcoming monsoon in mind, she directed swift action to repair damaged roads, improve drainage, and resolve waterlogging issues. She highlighted the urgency of upgrading roads used daily by thousands to prevent inconvenience and accidents.
Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra described the reactivation of the board under CM Rekha Gupta’s leadership as a historic and decisive step towards Yamunapar’s development. He noted the long-standing neglect of the area despite its growing population and needs, and welcomed the efforts to address this imbalance.
Mishra compared the forthcoming development in Yamunapar to the infrastructure improvements witnessed in parts of Delhi during the Commonwealth Games. He said special attention would be given to roads, drainage, public amenities, and tourism to establish Yamunapar as one of Delhi’s key developed regions.
Board Chairman Arvinder Singh Lovely expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and said the proposals submitted by all MLAs for the Yamunapar region’s development are crucial. He expressed confidence that under the CM’s leadership, these proposals would be swiftly approved and effectively implemented, bringing direct benefits to the residents.
