New Delhi, April 26: Xiaomi has made significant strides in the wireless earbuds market, and now it appears ready to venture into over-ear headphones. Early retail listings indicate that the Redmi Headphones Neo, the company’s first over-ear model, may be launching soon.
The Redmi Headphones Neo has been spotted on platforms like Diglex Electronics and Lazada. While there has been no official announcement, the detailed specifications and pricing information suggest that a launch is imminent.
On paper, the headphones boast impressive features for a budget-friendly product. They are equipped with 40mm titanium-coated drivers, offering a frequency response range of 20Hz to 40kHz. The active noise cancellation (ANC) capability is rated at an impressive 42dB. For wireless connectivity, the headphones utilize Bluetooth 5.4 and include a USB-C port for low-latency wired listening.
The listings claim a remarkable battery life of up to 72 hours with ANC turned off, a notable figure for this price range. According to industry insider Ronald Quandt, the headphones have a battery capacity of 500mAh.
Regarding pricing, there is some variation among listings. Lazada lists the headphones at PHP 3,299, approximately $55 after discounts. Another listing shows a lower price of about $36, likely for bulk orders, which may not reflect the price for individual consumers. Regardless, these headphones are clearly positioned in the budget segment, rather than competing with premium models.
At launch, the headphones are expected to be available in Obsidian Black and Sand White, with a third color option, Mist Blue, anticipated later. Xiaomi has established a strong reputation with its Redmi Buds by prioritizing value. If the Redmi Headphones Neo follows this trend, they could become a popular choice for those seeking affordable over-ear ANC headphones.
