Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Max, is set to boast an advanced camera system, according to recent leaks from China. The device is expected to feature a large 8,000mAh battery along with a sophisticated imaging setup that could surpass the standard Xiaomi 17 model.
As per the popular Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 17 Max will include a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HPE main sensor, measuring 1/1.4 inches. This will be complemented by a 50MP Sony IMX8-series periscope telephoto sensor with a 1/1.953-inch size, offering enhanced zoom capabilities. Additionally, the phone is likely to house a 50MP ultrawide lens, ensuring versatile photography options.
For comparison, the regular Xiaomi 17 features three 50MP sensors covering main, telephoto, and ultrawide photography. The leak also confirms that Xiaomi will continue its collaboration with Leica for camera tuning on the 17 Max, promising improved image quality and colour accuracy.
While further hardware details remain undisclosed, earlier reports suggest the Xiaomi 17 Max will sport a roughly 6.8-inch display and be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The massive 8,000mAh battery is expected to support fast charging at 100W wired and 50W wireless speeds.
Unlike the Pro models in the series, the Xiaomi 17 Max is not expected to feature a secondary rear display. Its rear design will reportedly resemble that of the standard Xiaomi 17 rather than the 17 Pro or 17 Pro Max.
Digital Chat Station indicates that the Xiaomi 17 Max will launch in China during the second quarter of 2026. However, chances of a global release appear slim, as Xiaomi seems likely to limit international availability to the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra models.
