Mumbai, April 7: Xiaomi has taken a break from its foldable phone lineup. The last model, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, was released in 2024, and there was no follow-up in 2025. However, it seems this hiatus is coming to an end.
Recent rumors indicate that Xiaomi plans to launch its next foldable device in early July. According to tipster Kartikey Singh, the new Xiaomi foldable was initially set to debut alongside the Xiaomi 17 Max next month. However, this timeline has now shifted to early July.
Xiaomi’s next-generation foldable phone was expected to be announced with the Xiaomi 17 Max, but it appears the launch has been postponed to early July.
There is also increasing speculation about the device’s name. It may not be referred to as the Mix Fold 5. An earlier IMEI database listing revealed a Xiaomi foldable with the model number 26023PN08C and the codename “pecan.”
This is significant because Xiaomi’s Mix Fold devices have traditionally used “PX” identifiers in their model codes. For instance, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 has the model number 24072PX77C. In contrast, the “PN” tag is usually linked to Xiaomi’s mainline number series, such as the Xiaomi 17. This suggests that Xiaomi could be rebranding its foldable line entirely. Instead of the Mix Fold 5 or even the Fold 6, the next foldable might be launched as the Xiaomi 17 Fold.
Expected Specifications of the Xiaomi 17 Fold
The device is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Camera specifications are based on previous reports. The foldable is expected to feature a 200-megapixel main sensor (Samsung S5KHP5), a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor (OV50M), and another 50-megapixel auxiliary sensor (OV50M). On the front, it could include a 16-megapixel selfie camera (OV16F).
Details about Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable remain scarce. However, with the rumored launch window approaching, we can expect more leaks to emerge soon.
