Wrestlers’ demands fulfilled, cops to finish investigation: Anurag Thakur

Lucknow : union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said on Friday that all of the requests of the wrestlers on dharna in Delhi had been addressed and that they should allow the Delhi Police to conduct an impartial investigation.

It is my request to all the athletes who are agitating there that their demands be met. The court has also issued orders, and they should allow an unbiased investigation to be conducted, Thakur told reporters in Lucknow.

Delhi police will do ‘doodh ka doodh pani ka pani’ (clarify everything) and take strict action as per the law, he added.

Since April 23, several wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, demanding that the findings of a committee formed to investigate sexual harassment allegations against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh be made public.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP from Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh, has been accused of sexually abusing at least seven female wrestlers, one of whom was a minor. He has been charged in two FIRs filed by the Delhi Police since the demonstrations began.
