World Archery Para Series Kicks Off in Ahmedabad with All Indian Archers Advancing

Ahmedabad, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The World Archery Para Series 2026 commenced on Saturday at the renowned Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. Following official practice sessions and equipment checks, archers launched their campaigns.

The day featured the Para Recurve qualification rounds and individual elimination rounds, with a total of 39 archers participating across men’s and women’s recurve categories. Among them were eight Indian archers, four in each category.

Indian competitors made a strong showing, with Harvinder Singh securing third place among 20 archers in the men’s Para Recurve qualification, while Bhavna also claimed third in the women’s category, competing against 19 archers.

All eight Indian archers have advanced to the next round. This group includes Harvinder Singh, Parveen, Sahajveer Singh, and Vijay Sundhi in the men’s division, alongside Bhavna, Pooja Kumari, Rajshree Dhanraj Rathod, and Pooja in the women’s division.

In the women’s qualification, Indonesia topped the standings, while Iran led the men’s qualification. On Sunday, Para Compound archers will take to the field, featuring leading Indian competitors Sheetal Devi, Payal Nag, and Rakesh Kumar.

With the opening day concluded, the competition is now progressing to the next phase. Upcoming days will see various qualification and elimination rounds, culminating in finals and medal ceremonies scheduled for September 8 and 9.

Participating nations include India, China, Great Britain, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Slovakia, the USA, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Iraq, Russia, and Sri Lanka.

This event, running from September 5 to 9, features over 100 athletes from 20 countries at Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront. It marks the third stage of the 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series, following the initial phase in Bangkok in April and the second stage held from June 30 to July 4 in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. The fourth and final stage is set to take place in October in Santiago, Chile.
