Winter Olympics Open in Milan with Chinese Officials Participation

Beijing, February 10: The 25th Winter Olympic Games officially opened in Milan, Italy. Chinese State Councilor Chen Yiqin attended the opening ceremony at the invitation of the organizers.

Before the ceremony, Chen Yiqin engaged in cordial discussions with Italian President Sergio Mattarella. He conveyed the best wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping, expressed hopes for the complete success of the Milan Winter Olympics, and thanked the Italian side for their hospitality arrangements for the Chinese sports delegation.

Mattarella requested Chen Yiqin to relay his greetings to President Xi Jinping, expressed hopes for ideal results from Chinese athletes, and thanked the Chinese government for its invaluable support for the Milan Winter Olympics.

On February 7, Chen Yiqin met with International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry. He expressed China’s readiness to deepen high-level cooperation with the IOC, promote world peace and development through sports, and advance the creation of a community with a shared future for humanity.
