New Delhi, June 19: The West Indies continue to shine in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. In the 12th match of the tournament, the Caribbean team showcased their skills at Headingley Cricket Stadium in Leeds, England, defeating Scotland by 7 runs. Chasing a target of 154 runs set by the West Indies, Scotland was all out for 146 runs.
Scotland started their innings strongly, with Darcy Carter and Kathryn Fraser forming a crucial partnership of 51 runs for the first wicket. Fraser was dismissed by Hayley Matthews for 20 runs. Following her dismissal, captain Kathryn Bryce failed to make an impact, getting out without scoring. Sarah Bryce managed only 4 runs, while Megan McColl was dismissed for just 1 run.
Darcy Carter delivered an impressive performance, scoring 59 runs off 62 balls, including 8 boundaries. However, she lacked support from her teammates. In the final overs, Elsa Lister contributed 33 runs off 25 balls but could not lead her team to victory. For the West Indies, captain Hayley Matthews was outstanding, taking 3 wickets for just 19 runs. Alia Aleene also claimed 3 wickets, conceding only 11 runs. In the closing overs, Stafanie Taylor delivered a powerful performance, remaining unbeaten with 47 runs off just 19 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes.
