New Delhi, October 12 (Daily Kiran)India tightened its grip on the second Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, enforcing the follow-on after bowling out the visitors for 248 runs in their first innings on Day 3, Sunday.

India, who had declared their first innings at 518/5, took a 270-run lead, forcing West Indies to bat again. The visitors, who needed to reach 319 to avoid the follow-on, fell short as the Indian bowlers dominated throughout the session.

Kuldeep Yadav Shines with Five-Wicket Haul

Resuming the day at 140/4, West Indies lost wickets in quick succession. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav spearheaded India’s attack, taking five wickets to wrap up the innings. He dismissed Shai Hope (36) early in the morning session, followed by Tevin Imlach (21) and Justin Greaves (17).

Mohammed Siraj bowled Jomel Warrican for 1, reducing the visitors to 175/8. After lunch, Jasprit Bumrah got Khary Pierre (23), while Kuldeep Yadav returned to dismiss Jayden Seales, ending the innings at 248.

With this performance, Kuldeep completed his five-wicket haul, reaffirming his status as India’s leading spinner in the match.

India’s Strong Batting Display

In India’s first innings, captain Shubman Gill led from the front with an unbeaten 129-run knock — his 10th Test century. Yashasvi Jaiswal also impressed with a brilliant 175-run innings.

Among others, Sai Sudharsan contributed 87 runs, Dhruv Jurel scored 44, Nitish Kumar Reddy added 43, and KL Rahul made 38.

For West Indies, Jomel Warrican took three wickets, while Roston Chase managed one.

India Eyes Series Clean Sweep

India leads the two-match Test series 1-0, having won the opening Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs. With the follow-on enforced, the hosts now look poised to secure a 2-0 series sweep.
