Kolkata, May 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has targeted the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the issue of land allocation to the Border Security Force (BSF) in West Bengal. Minister Dilip Ghosh stated that Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has granted approval for fencing, despite the previous government’s restrictions.
During a press briefing, Ghosh remarked, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have repeatedly urged the government to allocate land. Amit Shah facilitated the construction of 500-600 kilometers of fencing, but 300-400 kilometers remain unaddressed. Our government has approved this on the very first day. The land will be made available within 45 days. Discussions with the BSF are ongoing. Fencing work, which had stalled, will resume tomorrow.”
He emphasized that the previous administration failed to provide land to the BSF, severely affecting border security. As soon as Suvendu Adhikari took office as Chief Minister, he approved fencing measures. With this fencing, illegal crossings from neighboring countries into Bengal will be curtailed, ensuring peace in West Bengal.
Ghosh also noted that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had held multiple meetings with former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding land allocation, and funds were dispatched on the first day. However, the government took no action. He alleged that the previous administration exploited external individuals during elections, but this will no longer occur. The West Bengal government will close all routes that allowed illegal entries from neighboring countries.
Addressing concerns over adulterated food items, Minister Dilip Ghosh stated, “Prices are raised periodically, but quality must also be monitored. We have received numerous complaints regarding milk quality, and proper inspections are lacking. Various chemicals are being mixed in, posing health risks. Both quality and quantity must be maintained, and the government should pay attention to this matter.”
