NEW DELHI — The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR, warning of dust storms, thunderstorms, and light rain today, Sunday. This comes amid an unusual weather pattern across the region — with scorching daytime heat giving way to cooler, stormy evenings over the past few days.

Yellow Alert for Rain and Thunderstorm

According to the IMD forecast, partly cloudy skies will dominate through the day. By the evening and night, residents in Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, and Gurugram may experience:

• Dust-laden winds

• Lightning and thunder

• Scattered light rain or drizzle

• Wind speeds of 30–40 km/h

While these conditions may offer temporary relief from the heat, IMD cautions citizens to stay updated on changing weather conditions and avoid open areas during thunderstorms.

• Maximum temperature: 38–40°C

• Minimum temperature: 24–26°C

• Winds: Up to 35 km/h, surface-level

April 21 will likely see similar weather, with occasional clouds and moderate winds.

April 23 Onwards: Heatwave to Hit Again

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for a heatwave in:

• Gautam Buddha Nagar

• Gurugram

• Faridabad

on April 23 and 24, warning that temperatures could cross 41°C.

Daytime heat will intensify from Tuesday onward, with hot, dry winds aggravating discomfort and dehydration risks. Precautionary measures are advised, especially for outdoor workers, children, and the elderly.

No Major Change Expected on April 25–26

According to the week-long forecast, no significant shifts in weather are expected on April 25 and 26. Daytime conditions will remain hot and dry, but cloudy skies may return over Delhi on April 26, offering partial respite.
