Wankhede Stadium to host DC vs RR match

Mumbai, April 20 : Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced a change of venue for the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) following the Covid-19 outbreak in the Delhi-based franchise’s camp. As a precautionary measure, the game, which was scheduled to be held at the MCA Stadium, Pune, will now take place at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 22 after Delhi Capitals registered a sixth Covid-19 case with New Zealand wicketkeeper Tim Seifert returning positive in Wednesday’s RT-PCR testing. “The entire Delhi Capitals contingent underwent 2 rounds of COVID testing today,” said BCCI. Earlier, Delhi Capitals’ fixture against Punjab Kings, which was originally scheduled at MCA Stadium, was moved to Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai after five people, including player Mitchell Marsh, tested positive. Other four are Physiotherapist Patrick Farhat, Sports Massage Therapist Chetan Kumar, Team doctor Abhijit Salvi and Social Media Content team member Akash Mane. From April 16 onwards, the entire Delhi Capitals contingent has been put under a daily RT-PCR testing procedure. The 4th round of RT-PCR tests conducted on April 19 have returned negative. Earlier on April 18, Delhi Capitals in a statement said that Marsh had been admitted to a hospital and the franchise’s medical team is closely monitoring his condition.
