Beijing, February 23: Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and China’s Foreign Minister, sent a congratulatory message to Haji Eriwan, Brunei’s Foreign Minister, on the occasion of Brunei Darussalam’s 42nd Independence Day.

Wang Yi emphasized that the traditional friendship between China and Brunei has stood the test of time, and the bilateral relations have consistently maintained a positive momentum. Last year, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei successfully completed a state visit to China, where Chinese President Xi Jinping and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah reached significant agreements on building a shared future for the China-Brunei community, further strengthening the development of bilateral relations.

Wang Yi expressed his readiness to work alongside Foreign Minister Eriwan to use the crucial agreements achieved by both heads of state as a guiding principle. He aims to deepen comprehensive exchanges and cooperation between the two nations, strengthen coordination and collaboration on international and regional issues, and promote the practical advancement of building a shared future for the China-Brunei community, especially as they celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
