New Delhi, June 6: In Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, the administration has initiated a comprehensive campaign to enhance voter awareness and ensure the success of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program for the electoral rolls.
Under the guidance of District Magistrate and District Election Officer Prashant Arya, signature campaigns are being conducted in various educational institutions through electoral literacy clubs. This initiative has seen active participation from students, teachers, and staff, all committed to the purification of the voter list and strengthening the democratic process.
SWEEP Coordinator Dr. Shambhu Prasad Nautiyal provided detailed information about the SIR program during the campaign. He announced that from June 8 to July 7, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit homes to distribute and collect enumeration forms.
He emphasized that if a voter is unavailable during the first visit, the BLOs will make three attempts to establish contact, ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of this crucial process.
Dr. Nautiyal also mentioned that the Election Commission has made digital resources available for voters. They can download enumeration forms through the ECI-Net app or the Election Commission’s website and submit them online. Additionally, the “Book a Call with BLO” feature allows voters to directly contact their Booth Level Officers for necessary information.
The goal of this awareness campaign is to create a more accurate, transparent, and updated voter list, ensuring that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to participate in the democratic process. The signature campaign in educational institutions aims not only to raise awareness among the youth about voting but also to reinforce democratic values.
Young people in the district are actively participating in this campaign and motivating others to join as well.
