Mumbai, April 27: Vivo has recently unveiled the Y500s, a smartphone that boasts a remarkable 7,200mAh battery. This model follows the launch of the Y6t, which features a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, a 6.74-inch 720p+ display, and a 6,500mAh battery, priced at CNY 1,400 ($205) for the base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Now, Vivo is offering an even more enticing option with the Y500s, while also teasing the upcoming Y600 Pro.
The Y500s features a substantial 7,200mAh battery with a typical capacity of 28.23Wh. It supports 44W Flash charging via USB-C, allowing users to binge-watch shows for nearly 24 hours or use navigation for about 15.5 hours on a full charge. Even with just 20% battery remaining, the phone can still provide navigation for approximately 3 hours in power-saving mode.
This device is equipped with a Blue Ocean 3 battery, designed for safe charging in extreme temperatures, ranging from -20°C to 40°C. Vivo claims it can endure 1,600 charge cycles while retaining at least 80% of its original capacity, translating to about six years of typical use.
The Y500s sports a 6.75-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1,570 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. It features an 8MP front camera with an f/2.1 aperture. The rear camera is more impressive, boasting a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a significant upgrade from the 13MP camera found in the Y6t.
This smartphone is rated IP68 for water submersion and IP69 for protection against high-pressure water jets. It also includes stereo speakers with a one-button cleaning mode to expel water after accidental exposure. A side-mounted fingerprint reader adds to the device’s convenience.
Powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, the Y500s supports 5G connectivity. It comes in various configurations, with the base model offering 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for CNY 1,800. The higher-end model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage is priced at CNY 2,200. Currently, promotional pricing offers a discount of CNY 100 on the 12/256GB and 8/512GB models. The Y500s is available in Obsidian Black, Galaxy Silver, and Phoenix Gold.
In addition to the Y500s, Vivo has teased the Y600 Pro, which will feature a massive 10,200mAh battery. Like its counterpart, it will also have IP68 and IP69 ratings and a 50MP camera. Certification details indicate that this model will support 80W fast charging, with a full reveal expected later today.
