Vinod Jakhar Voices Concerns Over Police Violence Against Students During Protest

Vinod Jakhar expresses alarm over police brutality against students, highlighting serious incidents during protests in New Delhi.

New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : NSUI President Vinod Jakhar met with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at 10 Janpath in New Delhi on Wednesday. Following their discussion, Jakhar spoke to the media, expressing his concerns over recent police actions against students. He stated that the situation in the country has become alarming, as students raising their voices are facing violence.

Jakhar alleged that the treatment of students is troubling. He revealed that two of his female colleagues were severely beaten and required hospitalization for an entire night. According to Jakhar, students are attempting to express their views but are reportedly met with aggression.

In a related incident, Adira, a student from Delhi University, recounted her experience with police during the protests. She claimed that there were no female police officers present when she was taken into custody. Despite her request for a female constable, the police proceeded to transport the bus, dragging her along the road before taking her to the basement.

Adira described the violence she endured in the basement, stating that she suffered injuries to sensitive areas of her body and severe pain in her abdomen. She noted that the beating resulted in a loss of hearing in one ear. Adira criticized the treatment she received, asserting that it lacked the respect owed to her as both a human being and a woman.

Earlier, Jakhar took to social media platform X to denounce the brutality of the Delhi police, claiming that his colleagues sustained serious injuries. He labeled the violence against peacefully protesting students as an attack on democracy. Jakhar vowed that their fight would continue until the responsible police officers are suspended, stating, “We will not back down! From the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar to action against the guilty, we will demand accountability.”
