Vice President Radhakrishnan to Attend Graduation Ceremonies in Mizoram and Tripura on March 7-8

Aizawl, March 1: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan will be the chief guest at the graduation ceremonies of two central universities, Mizoram University and Tripura University, on March 7 and 8.

According to officials, the Vice President will address the 20th graduation ceremony of Mizoram University on March 7. The following day, he will attend the 14th graduation ceremony at Tripura University, where he will also deliver a speech.

In Aizawl, IAS officer Khilli Ram Meena chaired a meeting to review preparations for the Vice President’s visit. The meeting discussed the responsibilities of various departmental representatives and addressed key logistical and protocol matters related to the event.

A university official noted that the graduation ceremonies had not been held in the past two years, 2024 and 2025. The upcoming ceremonies will award certificates, degrees, gold medals, and PhD degrees to eligible students. A total of 283 students from various departments will receive gold medals, while 149 research students will be awarded PhD degrees.

On March 8, the Vice President will inaugurate the ceremony at the university campus located in Surjamaninagar, on the outskirts of Agartala.

The event will also be attended by Tripura’s Governor Indra Sen Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Manik Saha, and the university’s chancellor, Ahmad Javed, who will all deliver speeches.

Earlier, the acting Vice Chancellor Shyamal Das and acting Registrar Sameer Kumar Sheel met with the Governor at the Raj Bhavan to discuss various aspects of the graduation ceremony preparations.

Tripura University was established in October 1987 and was upgraded to a central university under the Tripura University Act, 2006, on July 2, 2007. Currently, 64 colleges are affiliated with the university.

Additionally, the central education ministry is working to complete the selection and appointment process for a new Vice Chancellor as soon as possible.
