Vice President CP Radhakrishnan to Attend IIMC Convocation Ceremony

New Delhi, February 27: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will present awards to top-performing students at the 57th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) for the 2024-25 batch on Friday.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will preside over the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the institute’s new academic and hostel blocks. He also serves as the chancellor of IIMC. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, will also be in attendance.

Faculty members and staff from the institute will join the event to celebrate this significant academic achievement and honor the graduating students.

Students from various campuses who have passed their examinations in journalism (English, Hindi, Radio and TV, Digital Media, Odia, Urdu, Marathi, and Malayalam), advertising, and public relations will be awarded diplomas for the 2024-25 academic year.

In addition to diplomas, 35 medals will be awarded to the top performers across all six campuses, including cash prizes for 23 of these medals.

The Vice President, along with the Information and Broadcasting Minister and Secretary, will lay the foundation stone for the new academic and hostel blocks at IIMC.

On this occasion, the Minister will also inaugurate the Creators Lounge located in the incubation center, in the presence of senior officials from the ministry and the institute.

Established on August 17, 1965, IIMC has five regional centers across the country offering journalism courses in English and regional languages. The first regional center was set up in 1993 in Dhenkanal, Odisha, to cater to the needs of the eastern region. Two more regional centers were established in Amravati, Maharashtra, for the western region, and Aizawl, Mizoram, for the northeastern region in the academic year 2011-12.

According to information available on the official website, regional centers were also established in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, to meet the needs of the northern region, and in Kottayam, Kerala, for the southern region starting from the academic year 2012-13.
