Vibrant Gujarat 2027: New Opportunities for Investment and Employment on the Horizon

New Delhi, August 31: Preparations for the ‘Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027’ scheduled for January 2027 are gaining momentum. During the curtain-raiser event held in New Delhi, several industry leaders highlighted Gujarat as one of the most attractive investment destinations in the country. Business leaders assert that the state’s investor-friendly policies, swift decision-making processes, and robust infrastructure make it a top choice for investors.

Nirmal Kumar Minda, President of Assocham, stated in an interview that Vibrant Gujarat is not just an investment conference but an economic festival that has connected investors from India and around the world to Gujarat over the past fifteen years. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated this event, and it has consistently reached new heights of expansion and success.

Minda mentioned, “Over a thousand industry representatives and investors have been invited to the curtain-raiser event. This is a significant opportunity for companies looking to increase investments in Gujarat or establish new projects.”

He further noted that investments are rising in emerging sectors like semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) in Dholera, while projects such as Maruti’s new automobile plant in Sanand will strengthen the entire industrial ecosystem.

He emphasized that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of India’s manufacturing sector, and these units will also find new expansion opportunities with large investments. Minda praised the Gujarat government’s ease of doing business and quick decision-making capabilities, stating that the state provides a positive and optimistic environment for investors.

Meanwhile, Ajay S. Shriram, Chairman and Senior Managing Director of DCM Shriram Limited, remarked that Vibrant Gujarat has significantly enhanced the state’s global investment profile over the years. He pointed out that every state is competing to attract investments, and Gujarat stands out due to its policies and industrial environment.

He added, “Our company has been operating in Gujarat for the past three decades. What began as a 100-ton capacity caustic soda unit has now expanded to 2,250 tons. We have developed several value-added businesses in the state and have major expansion plans ahead.”

Ajay Shriram also mentioned that in the past three and a half years, the company has invested nearly ₹5,000 crores in Gujarat. They are now working on plans to invest an additional ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 crores in collaboration with partner companies over the next four to five years. He stressed that job creation and economic development are crucial for any country’s progress, and with this mindset, the company will continue to expand its operations in Gujarat.

Additionally, Sanjay Banga, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, stated that Tata Power has maintained a strong relationship with Gujarat and has consistently participated in events like Vibrant Gujarat.

He highlighted that the company’s 4,000 MW Mundra project plays a vital role in meeting the state’s energy needs. Tata Power also has around 700 MW of solar and wind energy projects in the state.

Sanjay Banga further mentioned that the Gujarat government recently allocated land for the development of 3 GW of additional renewable energy projects. He praised the state government for its support and industry-friendly policies, noting that challenges during project implementation are swiftly addressed, which strengthens investor confidence.

He also revealed that the company has identified a potential site in Gujarat where technical and commercial feasibility studies are being conducted. If all tests are successful, Tata Power plans to invest further in the state with the Gujarat government’s support and advance work on a nuclear energy project.
