Uttar Pradesh Womens Commission Chair Rejects Mamata Banerjees Allegations as Politically Motivated

Lucknow, May 5: Babita Singh Chauhan, the Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission, dismissed allegations made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding electoral irregularities as baseless and politically motivated. She credited the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for strengthening women’s safety and empowerment.

In response to Banerjee’s claims of physical attacks on women during the elections, Chauhan stated that such statements are attempts to divert attention from electoral defeats.

Speaking to a news agency, Chauhan remarked, “When they have nothing left, they must say something. If agencies were truly involved in wrongdoing, the BJP would not have secured such a significant majority.”

She further noted that public sentiment in West Bengal has turned against the Trinamool Congress government, attributing this to widespread dissatisfaction among citizens.

Chauhan explained, “Excess of anything can be harmful. I often visit Bengal, especially Kolkata, where people are extremely frustrated with the governance. It is difficult to fully express the level of public disappointment.”

She claimed that while some sections of society may support Banerjee out of ‘self-interest,’ the broader public sentiment reflects discontent, as evidenced by voting trends. The frustration among the populace is clearly visible in the voter turnout.

Addressing the allegations of violence against female voters, Chauhan stated, “What she is saying is completely false. When evidence is clear, no additional proof is needed. The participation of female voters has been significant, clearly indicating that women feel safe and supported.”

She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for prioritizing policies that ensure women’s safety and empowerment.

Chauhan emphasized, “Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, special attention has been given to ensuring women’s safety and providing necessary facilities. There is no question of violence; disrespect towards women is also intolerable.”

She also highlighted that today’s female voters are politically aware and do not require additional mobilization. “Women are already conscious and actively participate in voting. They understand that to protect their rights or secure opportunities, they must support the right political platform.”

Chauhan commended Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for initiatives aimed at empowering women in Uttar Pradesh. She stated, “Numerous programs have been launched in Uttar Pradesh to strengthen the status of women in society. On behalf of all women, I express gratitude to the Chief Minister.”
