Lucknow, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Tourists and pilgrims visiting religious and historical sites in Uttar Pradesh will no longer need to rely on guides or locals for information. The state government has implemented a system of QR codes alongside inscriptions at these sites. Scanning the code will instantly provide visitors with essential details about the location’s history, archaeological significance, and religious beliefs.
As part of the 2025-26 financial year plan, the installation of QR codes has been completed at 14 religious sites so far. Jayveer Singh, the state’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, announced that this initiative aims to offer authentic and concise information about sites of religious, ancient, and historical importance.
Inscriptions will contain key details about the archaeological and historical significance of each site, along with relevant religious beliefs. The government’s goal is not only to identify these locations but also to transform them into centers of information and tourism. Visitors to ancient temples, ashrams, or religious sites will be able to scan the QR codes to easily learn about the history, significance, and beliefs associated with each location. This initiative is also intended to connect younger generations with the local religious and cultural heritage.
The tourism minister highlighted that a total of 575 projects have been approved for the 2025-26 fiscal year, which includes the installation of QR codes and inscriptions. The completed sites include Naradnath Rishi Ashram in Mainpuri, Samour Baba Dham in Firozabad, and several temples in Prayagraj, among others.
Additionally, the initiative has been completed at Pagalanand Ashram, Kamnahiya Baba Temple, and ancient temples in Ayodhya. The government believes that this information system will enhance the experience for pilgrims while promoting religious and heritage tourism in the state.
This new approach could provide a fresh identity to smaller and lesser-known sites that hold local historical and religious significance but lack widespread awareness. By linking Uttar Pradesh’s religious and cultural heritage with digital information, the state is taking significant steps forward. More religious and historical sites will be included as additional projects are completed in the future.
