Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Accuses SP of Vote-Bank Politics Targeting Muslims

Prayagraj, April 17: Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav during a press conference in Prayagraj on Friday. He criticized Yadav’s statements regarding reservation for Muslim women, accusing him of engaging in vote-bank politics.

Maurya stated, “Akhilesh Yadav is indulging in vote-bank politics. He aims to appease Muslims and keep them as a vote bank. He frequently talks about a so-called ‘fake PDA’ (Backward, Dalit, Minority). Meanwhile, the Nari Shakti Vandan Act is a historic step towards securing rights for women.”

Discussing women’s reservation, Maurya highlighted that the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023’ was passed in the new Parliament building during the second term of the Modi government. This act is expected to be effective in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies from 2029 onwards. The Modi government is committed to empowering women.

The Deputy Chief Minister also addressed the recent protests by workers in Noida. He mentioned that the government has formed a high-level committee to investigate the matter. This committee is working to protect the interests of both workers and service providers, aiming to find the best possible solution for both parties.

Earlier, Brajesh Pathak accused the SP of misleading women, recalling that during the Congress rule in 2010, SP members tore up the women’s reservation bill. He asserted, “You all know very well that Congress had no intention of passing it. They wanted to confuse and mislead women. Now, Prime Minister Modi has taken a firm stance to ensure justice and rights for our daughters and women, while Congress and the Samajwadi Party are making various false allegations.”

He cited the Town Hall event held in Varanasi as an example, noting the remarkable participation of women who transcended caste, religion, and community boundaries. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi on behalf of the 250 million people of the state. He emphasized that women have not received their rightful share and rights since independence, but today, Prime Minister Modi is set to grant them their due rights.
