Uttar Pradesh Begins Budget Session Amid Calls for Dialogue

Lucknow, February 9: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the commencement of the state assembly’s budget session today. This marks the tenth budget of his administration. The Chief Minister urged all members to recognize the assembly as a vital pillar of democracy. He emphasized that if any member wishes to raise an issue, they should engage in dialogue rather than disrupt proceedings, as the government believes in resolving problems through conversation.

During a media interaction on Monday, CM Yogi stated that the session would begin with the Governor’s address, in line with parliamentary traditions. The budget session has two significant agendas: the Governor’s address and the general budget. The Governor’s address serves as a document outlining the government’s achievements and extensive action plans, which is presented to the public through the assembly. All members will discuss this address. Today, the Governor will deliver his address to the assembly.

CM Yogi announced that the general budget for 2026-27 would be presented on February 11, followed by discussions. The budget session will run from February 9 to February 20. He noted that for the first time, a state government would take such a step to highlight its economic achievements. The government has transformed Uttar Pradesh from a state of distress to a breakthrough in India’s economy. The public and their representatives have the right to know about this economic progress, including per capita income growth, employment generation, and how the state has maintained a revenue surplus for the past five years despite challenging circumstances.

He mentioned that an economic survey report would also be presented in the assembly, serving as an essential document for members to review and discuss data.

CM Yogi reiterated that the assembly is a crucial foundation of democracy. It operates through dialogue, not disruption. Any member wishing to raise an issue should engage in conversation, as the government is always ready to discuss and take necessary steps in the state’s interest, valuing every member’s valuable suggestions.

He appealed to opposition members to avoid disrupting proceedings and unnecessary noise. CM Yogi highlighted that new records have been set in the assembly’s proceedings over the past nine years. The budget session will attract attention from both the state and the nation. It will also provide a platform for members to raise important issues. He stated that the budget session would play a significant role in accelerating the development pace of Uttar Pradesh. CM Yogi urged all members to advance meaningful discussions on public-related issues at this highest legislative forum.
