New Delhi: Sergio Gore, the new United States Ambassador to India, took charge at the US Embassy in New Delhi on Monday. A formal welcome event was organised to mark his first day in office. Sharing his initial experience, Ambassador Gore expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to deepening the India-US partnership.

On the social media platform X, the ambassador wrote, “Namaste! Today is my first day at the US Embassy in New Delhi. I feel honoured to join this dedicated team and look forward to advancing President Donald Trump’s priorities by strengthening the America-India partnership. I am very optimistic about the future of both our countries under President Trump’s leadership.”

Focus on Trade Talks and Strategic Cooperation

During the welcome event, Ambassador Gore addressed attendees and highlighted the resumption of ongoing trade talks between the two countries scheduled for Tuesday. He stated, “Many have asked me for updates on the ongoing trade deal discussions. Both sides are actively engaged. The next round of talks will take place on Tuesday. India is the largest country in the world, so reaching a final agreement is not easy, but we are firmly committed to that goal. Trade is very important to our relationship.”

He added that cooperation extends beyond trade to vital areas such as security, counter-terrorism, energy, technology, education, and health.

India as a Key Partner for the US

Ambassador Gore described India as America’s most important partner, saying, “There is no partner more crucial than India.
