UPSC CDS-II 2026: Notification Released for 451 Vacancies, Application Process Begins

New Delhi, May 21: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Defence Services (CDS-II) recruitment examination for 2026 on its website. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 451 officer positions across various academies, including the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA).

Among the 451 vacancies, the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun will begin its 163rd (DE) course in July 2027, which includes 100 positions, with 13 reserved for NCC ‘C’ certificate holders (Army Wing). The Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala will also start its course in July 2027, offering 26 positions in the Executive Branch (General Service)/Hydro, 6 for NCC ‘C’ certificate holders (Navy Wing), and 1 for Hydro. The Air Force Academy in Hyderabad will commence its (Pre-Flying) training course in July 2027, which includes 32 positions for the 222F(P) course, with 3 reserved for NCC ‘C’ certificate holders (Air Wing) through special entry. The Officers Training Academy in Chennai will start its 126th SSC (Men) (NT) (UPSC) course in October 2027, offering 275 positions, while the 126th SSC Women (NT) (UPSC) course will also begin in October 2027, with 18 positions available.

The online application process for all these posts commenced on May 20 and will close on June 9. Candidates wishing to apply for the positions announced by UPSC can submit their registration forms on the commission’s official website before 6 PM on the deadline.

Applicants must possess a graduation degree or an engineering degree from a recognized institution or university, with Physics as a main or optional subject in B.Sc. (with Physics and Mathematics at the 12th level). Additionally, candidates must meet other eligibility criteria as specified for each position.

The minimum age for applicants is set between 19 to 20 years, while the maximum age ranges from 24 to 25 years, depending on the position. Eligible candidates will be selected based on a written examination (objective type), SSB Intelligence and Personality Test, medical examination, and document verification. Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary of ₹56,100. The written examination is scheduled for September 13.

When applying, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online, which is set at ₹200 for General/OBC/EWS (Male) candidates. Female candidates (all categories) and those from Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes are exempt from the registration fee.
