Lucknow, March 10 : The BJP was set to retain power in Uttar Pradesh as counting on Thursday of the millions of votes polled in assembly elections showed that along with its allies it was leading in 212 seats, leaving the main opposition Samajwadi Party way behind. The Bharatiya Janata Party will become the second party after the Congress in 1985 to get a second term in the country’s most populous state. The Samajwadi Party was leading in 96 seats. No results have been declared so far out of the 403 constituencies where counting of votes was on. The BSP was leading in five seats and the Congress in three. While the BJP is leading on 200, its allied A a Dal (Sonelal) is leading on 8 and Nishad Party on 4. SP ally Rashtriya Lok Dal is leading on six seats. Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya led Jansatta Dal (Loktantrik) on 2 and heavyweight Dhananjay Singh, who is contesting on Janata Dal ( ted) ticket is leading on Malhani seat in Jaunpur district.
