Dehradun, May 14: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the renowned Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is on track to set historic records this year.
Since its commencement on April 19, over 1.26 million devotees have visited the sacred Himalayan shrines in just 25 days. Officials state that this reflects an extraordinary wave of faith and devotion.
The atmosphere at all four shrines is filled with enthusiasm and reverence. As of May 13, a total of 1,260,478 pilgrims have completed the Char Dham Yatra.
Among these, 523,582 devotees visited the Kedarnath Temple, 324,081 visited the Badrinath Temple, 205,425 visited the Gangotri Temple, and 207,390 visited the Yamunotri Temple.
On Wednesday alone, 80,401 pilgrims performed rituals across all four shrines. The highest number, 32,423, visited Kedarnath, while 21,260 visited Badrinath, 13,403 visited Yamunotri, and 13,315 visited Gangotri.
Kedarnath Temple has seen the highest influx of devotees. Despite challenging mountain paths and changing weather, over 523,000 pilgrims have visited Kedarnath in just 22 days.
On Wednesday, more than 32,000 pilgrims reached Kedarnath, making it the busiest of all four shrines.
The increasing number of devotees is attributed to improved infrastructure, crowd management, and significant development projects undertaken at Kedarnath as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. The temple, which was devastated by disaster, now stands grand and spiritual, attracting record numbers of pilgrims.
Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that the safety and convenience of pilgrims are the government’s top priorities. The travel routes pass through high-altitude Himalayan areas, so the state administration is closely monitoring weather conditions. Officials have been instructed to ensure immediate action in adverse weather situations.
To facilitate the pilgrimage, the government has strengthened slot management, crowd control, and real-time digital monitoring systems. The Kedarnath trekking route has also been improved, making the journey safer and more comfortable for elderly pilgrims and families.
Government statistics from the past four years indicate a steady rise in the popularity of the Kedarnath pilgrimage. Between 2022 and 2025, approximately 6.95 million pilgrims visited Kedarnath. The continuous increase in the number of devotees reflects growing trust in the administration’s travel arrangements and infrastructure improvements.
