Hubli, May 9: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has described the India Bloc as a “gang of opportunists,” asserting that the leaders of the opposition alliance lack any ideological conviction or background.
His remarks came after the Congress party severed ties with the DMK and extended support to the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) for government formation in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Joshi stated, “We completely disagree with the DMK’s ideology. However, the Congress, as a national party, has allied with a regional party that has never believed in India’s unity. Now, since they did not gain power with the DMK, they have turned to the TVK.”
He further expressed disappointment that the Congress, which faced defeat against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, is now part of the India Bloc.
Joshi also noted that in Kerala, the Congress and the Communists contested elections against each other, yet they are now united under the India Bloc.
Referring to the election campaign in West Bengal, he mentioned that Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, recently criticized Mamata Banerjee, the leader of the Trinamool Congress. “Yet, they are now together in the India Bloc,” he added.
He concluded that it has been proven that the India Bloc is indeed a gang of opportunists, devoid of any ideological foundation or background.
Joshi also commented on the swearing-in of Suvendu Adhikari as the first Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal. He claimed that the Communist Party had ruled for over 25 years and ruined the state, and that Mamata Banerjee continued the same “goondaism” and “hooliganism.”
He accused the Trinamool Congress of never believing in electoral politics.
