Union Minister Gadkari Assures Manipur CM of Central Support for NH Projects

Imphal, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari met with Manipur Chief Minister N. Khemchand Singh on Thursday, assuring him of the central government’s commitment to address various state projects. The meeting took place at Gadkari’s residence in New Delhi, where Singh raised several development concerns.

A senior official from the Chief Minister’s Office reported that during their discussion, Singh emphasized the need to commence construction on the Shangsak-Tengnoupal Highway and sought approval for the proposed elevated highway project in Imphal. He also urged Gadkari to expedite work on National Highway-37 and National Highway-2 to enhance connectivity and alleviate difficulties for local residents.

The Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37) and the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati National Highway (NH-2) are vital lifelines for Manipur, linking the state to the rest of the country. Gadkari informed Singh that the ministry is actively considering the elevated highway project in Imphal.

He reassured the Chief Minister that all projects and issues raised by the state government would be addressed appropriately, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to the overall development of Manipur and improving road connectivity.

In related developments, Singh also held separate meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur in New Delhi on the same day, discussing various issues concerning the state. Both ministers expressed their intention to visit Manipur soon.
