New Delhi, May 20: Veteran Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav has expressed his support for young right-arm pacer Prince Yadav, who is currently playing for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026. Umesh congratulated Prince on his selection for the Indian ODI team, stating that he truly deserves this opportunity.
Umesh remarked, “Prince’s selection for the ODI team is a well-deserved reward for his performance this IPL season. He has worked hard over the past year. What sets him apart is his bowling variety. He knows exactly when to swing the ball and when to hit the hard length. Such awareness is rare among young bowlers. He is not afraid to bowl bouncers. Whenever he senses that a batsman is comfortable, he delivers a short ball. This is a valuable skill in white-ball cricket.”
The seasoned bowler further added, “He possesses an accurate yorker and a well-disguised slower ball that often surprises batsmen. His inswing is his real weapon. The way he dismissed Virat Kohli with an inswinging delivery was pure class.”
Umesh expressed his happiness about Prince receiving his first call-up to the national team. “He has the talent and the mindset to grow. If he stays fit and continues to learn, he can become a crucial player for Indian cricket.”
Prince Yadav has been selected for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. He has made a significant impact in IPL 2026, taking 16 wickets in 13 matches. Playing domestic cricket for Delhi, Prince has claimed 29 wickets in 14 List A matches.
