Ukraine postpones evacuation from Mariupol

Kyiv, March 5 : The evacuation process of civilians from Mariupol was postponed as Russia breached the ceasefire, Ukrainian officials said on Saturday. “EVACUATION OF PEACEFUL POPULATION FROM MARIUPOL POSTPONED!”, Governor of the eastern Donetsk region Pavlo Kyrylenko tweeted. “Due to the fact that the Russians do not observe the regime of silence and continue shelling of Mariupol and its environs, for security reasons, the evacuation of the population has been postponed,” he added.” Earlier, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk has warned Russia not to halt the ceasefire. “Our military report that in the area of the declared route [of the evacuation corridor] Russian troops are using the ceasefire and moving forward,” Vereshchuk said as reported by CNN. Russia declared a ceasefire from 10 am (Moscow time) to allow civilians to leave the cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha. JNA
