Ratnagiri: Maharashtra’s Guardian Minister Uday Samant expressed profound sorrow on the passing of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He described Ajit Pawar not only as his political mentor but also like a close relative.
In a conversation with the media, Uday Samant revealed that his relationship with Ajit Pawar went far beyond politics. He often received guidance from Pawar and at times friendly admonishment. The two maintained regular and cordial communication. To illustrate their close bond, Samant shared a photograph with Ajit Pawar with reporters.
Samant recounted that just before Ajit Pawar’s death, at around 7 pm, he had spoken to him on the phone regarding development works related to Pune MIDC. That day, they had connected three times to discuss political matters and MIDC projects. Hearing the news of Ajit Pawar’s demise the following morning was a tremendous shock for him.
Reflecting on their association, Samant said that Ajit Pawar had provided immense support and encouragement at the start of his political journey. With the leadership of Sharad Pawar and assistance from Ajit Pawar, he got opportunities to travel across Maharashtra and establish his identity. Losing such a selfless and steadfast leader after nearly 25 years of companionship is an irreparable loss.
Uday Samant prayed for the peace of Ajit Pawar’s soul and sought strength for the Pawar family to bear this grief. He remarked that Maharashtra has lost a great leader whose contributions to the state’s development will always be remembered. The event is a major setback for Maharashtra’s politics, where the absence of an experienced leader like Ajit Pawar will be deeply felt for a long time.
Ajit Pawar passed away on Wednesday morning in a tragic plane accident involving five people. The accident occurred during an emergency landing, resulting in the death of all onboard. Condolences poured in from the President, Prime Minister, and numerous leaders across the country.
