Udaipur, January 28: The upcoming railway budget is expected to bring more development opportunities for the Udaipur parliamentary constituency. Work on new railway line surveys and ongoing construction of rail networks in the region is progressing steadily.
During a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat raised several issues related to the constituency. In response, Union Minister for Railways, Communications, and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, informed Mr. Rawat through a letter about ongoing and upcoming railway projects in the area.
Mr. Rawat shared that Mr. Vaishnaw detailed the progress of key projects, including the Neemuch-Badi Sadri, Nathdwara-Nathdwara Town, and Devgarh Madaria-Nathdwara railway lines. Surveys for new lines, such as Devgarh-Bar and Neemuch-Kota, are also underway. Instructions have been issued to relevant directorates for the introduction and extension of new rail services, including Vande Bharat trains, as well as reviewing stoppages.
The letter also highlighted that the average annual budget allocation for infrastructure and safety projects in Rajasthan, which was โน682 crore during 2009-14, has increased almost 15 times to โน29,959 crore in 2024-25. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 85 railway stations in Rajasthan have been identified for development, including two stations in the Udaipur constituency.
Development work at Rana Pratap Nagar station is in progress, while the Udaipur City station is undergoing a major redevelopment project worth over โน350 crore. Additionally, 12 railway overbridges and underbridges, costing over โน90 crore, are under construction in the constituency.
The Udaipur region is poised to benefit significantly from these developments, ensuring better rail connectivity and enhanced infrastructure in the coming years.
