Mumbai, August 18: The U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday. They discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations. Gore was in Mumbai to participate in the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) National Conference 2026.
CM Fadnavis shared details of the meeting on the social media platform X, expressing his pleasure in welcoming Ambassador Gore to Mumbai. He stated, “We had a fruitful discussion on enhancing India-U.S. relations and exploring better cooperation opportunities.”
During the conference, Gore addressed the attendees, highlighting the theme “Redefining the India-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.” He emphasized the significance of the event, noting, “We are truly at a unique juncture in time. In just two decades, our bilateral trade has skyrocketed from nearly $20 billion to over $240 billion. This twelvefold increase did not happen by chance. In any sector you choose, you’ll find that the U.S. and India are working together to meet challenges.”
Gore further remarked, “Whether it’s AI, technology, aerospace, defense, or energy, both countries are collaborating at unprecedented levels, leading the rest of the world. This reflects a deep, unbreakable trust. Our shared goal of reaching $500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 showcases the vast opportunities ahead. It demonstrates unparalleled potential.”
According to Gore, U.S. President Donald Trump has complete confidence in India. He added, “President Trump believes in India and has worked diligently to maintain this relationship from day one. Within weeks of his second term, he and PM Modi launched a trust initiative that transformed our relationship, utilizing strategic technology to accelerate cooperation in AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, defense, and essential goods.”
