Jammu, April 22 : The two terrorists killed in a gun battle here are suspected to have infiltrated from Pakistan with a view to carry out major attacks on vital installations of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, the police chief said on Friday. They were wearing ‘fidayeen’ jackets and belonged to the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit of Pakistan, Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh told the media. “A large quantity of arms and amm tion including AK rifles, grenades, medicines and energy drinks were recovered from the site.” Dilbagh Singh’s comments came hours after the security forces killed the two terrorists in Samba, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s April 24 visit. The terror attack came when a bus ferrying troopers of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was ambushed around 4.25 am. An Assistant Sub Inspector was killed in the ensuing gun battle and around six others were injured. Two terrorists were killed in the operation, said Mukesh Singh, the Additional Director General of Police. He said that one satellite phone and two AK 47 rifles were recovered from the encounter site. A grenade was lobbed at the bus ferrying the CISF men near Chaddha Camp in Jalalabad area of Sunjuwan. Then the militants opened fire. “The CISF personnel retaliated effectively to the firing and forced them to run away following which the area was cordoned. A team of SOG headed by Superintendent of Police Naresh Singh under the supervision of Jammu SSP Chandan Kohli and DIG Vivek Gupta immediately launched a cordon and search operation after the attack on the bus. The slain ASI was identified as S P Patel while those injured include Head Constable Balraj Singh of Jammu Police, SPO Sahil Sharma and two CISF troopers — Parmod Patra of Odisha and Amir Soran of Assam.
