Nanded, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : A special NDPS court in Nanded, Maharashtra, has sentenced two individuals to ten years in prison for their involvement in a significant cannabis trafficking case. The court, located in Biloali, delivered its verdict on September 9, 2026.
The two convicted men, Gokul Narayan Rajput and Sunil Yadav Mahajan, were also fined one lakh rupees each. If they fail to pay the fines, they will face an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.
The case stems from an operation conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Mumbai zone. On November 15, 2021, NCB officers intercepted a truck with registration number MH-26-AD-2165 near Manjaram village in the Naigaon taluka of Nanded district. The search revealed 49 bags containing a total of 1127 kilograms of cannabis.
During the investigation, the prosecution argued that the defendants were in possession of the cannabis in commercial quantities and were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding their possession.
Based on the evidence presented, the court found both men guilty and imposed the ten-year sentences along with the fines. The court also ordered the seizure of the truck and other related items in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act.
The NCB stated that this ruling underscores its commitment to effective investigation and prosecution in drug trafficking cases. The agency is dedicated to dismantling drug trafficking networks and contributing to the goal of a “drug-free India.”
Furthermore, the NCB encourages citizens to report any information related to drug sales, trafficking, or distribution. Information can be shared anonymously through the MANAS National Narcotics Helpline at the toll-free number 1933.
