Aurangabad, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has successfully secured a conviction against two individuals involved in a drug trafficking case in Aurangabad, Bihar. On September 12, 2026, a local court sentenced the accused to ten years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on each. If they fail to pay the fine, they will face an additional year in simple imprisonment.
The NCB apprehended Pramod Prasad on February 24, 2021, at the Ramabandh bus stand, based on intelligence reports. He was found in possession of 5.250 kilograms of opium, which was reportedly smuggled from Daltonganj in Jharkhand to Aurangabad.
The case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985. During the investigation, the NCB also arrested the supplier, Bikash Kumar Gupta, who is also known as Vikas Kumar Gupta.
The NCB presented evidence in court that established the involvement of both accused. The First Additional District and Sessions Judge in Aurangabad found Pramod Prasad, a resident of Imamganj in Gaya district, and Bikash Kumar Gupta from Panki in Palamu district, guilty under the NDPS Act.
The bureau credited its officers for the thorough investigation and prosecution, reaffirming its commitment to combating illegal drug trafficking and substance abuse. The NCB has also urged the public to report illegal drug activities through the MANS portal or the helpline number 1933, assuring that informants’ identities will remain confidential.
