Chatra, Jharkhand, 29 December (Daily Kiran) – A violent clash between two factions of the banned extremist group Third Conference Presentation Committee (TSPSC) took place in Gendra village under Kunda police station area in Chatra district around midnight on Sunday. The gunfight resulted in the death of two persons on the spot and left two others injured. The injured were admitted to RIMS Ranchi for treatment. Police recovered two country-made pistols from the scene.

SP Sumit Agrawal stated that the two deceased extremists included Devendra Ganjhu, identified as the sub-zonal commander of TSPSC, and Churaman Ganjhu. Devendra was involved in over 30 cases across several police stations including Chatra, Hazaribagh, Latehar, and Palamu. Among the injured are Shyam Bhokta and his brother-in-law Gopal Ganjhu. Both were initially treated at Pratappur Community Health Centre before being referred to RIMS. Shyam Bhokta also has multiple cases registered against him for involvement in Naxal activities.

The SP explained that Devendra and Churaman arrived at Shyam Bhokta’s residence with some associates. A dispute erupted between the groups, leading to the exchange of fire. Devendra and Churaman died instantly, while Shyam Bhokta and Gopal Ganjhu sustained serious injuries. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was triggered by a conflict over levy distribution and dominance.

Police are currently investigating the matter.
