Two Arrested in Noida for Mobile and Laptop Theft; 18 Phones Recovered

Noida, May 15: The Sector-142 police in Noida have apprehended two individuals involved in the theft of mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic items. Authorities recovered a total of 18 stolen mobile phones, two laptops, one tablet, and an electric scooter used in the thefts.

This police action is seen as crucial in curbing the rising incidents of theft in the area. On May 15, the Sector-142 police team was conducting a checking operation when they stopped two suspicious young men on the service road of the FNG Road for questioning.

Upon searching them, a significant amount of stolen goods was found in their possession. The arrested suspects have been identified as Mahendra and Junaid, also known as Bittu. Police investigations revealed that both suspects executed their thefts with cunning strategies. They would scout weekly markets, residential areas, and neighborhoods, looking for homes with open windows. When the opportunity arose, they would swiftly steal mobile phones, laptops, and tablets left near windows.

After the thefts, these items were sold at very low prices to passersby, and the money was spent on their personal indulgences. The police also reported that the electric scooter recovered from the suspects was itself stolen. This scooter had been reported missing on January 16, 2026, near the Advant Gate No. 1 in the Sector-142 area. A case regarding this theft had already been registered at the Sector-142 police station.

Mahendra, aged 27, is a resident of Nagli Wajidpur in the Expressway police jurisdiction. The other suspect, Junaid, originally hails from Saharsa district in Bihar and was living on rent in Nagli Wajidpur, Noida.

According to police records, both suspects have a criminal history. Junaid has multiple serious charges against him, including theft, violations of the NDPS Act, the Arms Act, and the Excise Act. The police are now interrogating both suspects to gather information about other theft incidents and are also working to identify the rightful owners of the recovered mobile phones and other items.
