Ranchi: On the occasion of Republic Day 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs has honoured twelve police officers and personnel from Jharkhand with President’s Police Medals for their outstanding and commendable service. The ministry issued an official notification on Sunday announcing the awards.
The awardees have demonstrated dedication, courage, and professional excellence in maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety across the state. According to the notification, Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
During his long tenure, DSP Sudhir Kumar has successfully handled numerous challenging responsibilities with honesty, discipline, and leadership skills. His contributions have also been recognised at the departmental level. Additionally, eleven other officers and personnel from Jharkhand Police were honoured with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The recipients include Inspector General of Police (IG) Anoop Birathare and IG Patel Mayur Kanaiyalal, both of whom have significantly contributed to better policing, administrative efficiency, and effective handling of sensitive cases in their respective roles. DSP Sanjay Kumar was also awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Other personnel recognised for their dedication, bravery, and exemplary service include Head Constables Krishna Kumar Kshetri, Arun Kumar Ojha, Markus Sunwar, Jaydev Pradhan, Janet Margaret Lakda, Kumudini Kujur, Sufal Oriya, and Mohammad Wasim Akhtar. These officers have made notable contributions at the grassroots level in crime control, law enforcement, and public safety.
The Jharkhand government and police department have described this recognition as a matter of pride for the entire Jharkhand Police force.
