Mumbai, May 5: Cybercrime cases are on the rise in Mumbai, and now renowned TV actor Rahul Singh Tomar has become a victim. Fraudsters cleverly targeted the actor, withdrawing ₹85,000 from his bank account. Fortunately, timely action to block the account saved a significant amount.
A case has been registered against an unidentified individual at the Amboli police station in Mumbai, and the police are investigating the matter.
According to police reports, 32-year-old Rahul Singh Tomar hails from Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh and currently resides in the Amboli area of Andheri West, Mumbai. He has been active in the TV industry for a long time, featuring in several popular serials and web series. The incident occurred when he received a call from an unknown number.
The caller asked for his name, address, and professional details. Since Rahul is in the acting field, he assumed it was a work-related call and shared the information without suspicion. Within just half an hour, he received a message on his mobile indicating that ₹85,000 had been transferred from his bank account.
This amount was sent to a UPI ID belonging to an individual named ‘Dongri Supriya.’ Shockingly, Rahul had neither made any transactions nor shared his OTP or UPI PIN with anyone.

Initial investigations revealed that the fraudsters had attempted additional transactions of ₹12,000, ₹10,000, and ₹9,999 to the same UPI ID, but these amounts were saved due to the timely blocking of the account.
When Rahul tried to contact the suspicious number again, he found it blocked. Subsequently, he went to the police station to file a complaint against the unidentified perpetrator.
In terms of his career, Rahul Singh Tomar has appeared in notable shows such as ‘Crime Patrol,’ ‘Gustakh Dil,’ and ‘Jamuna Paar.’ He has also been seen in web series like ‘Salt City,’ ‘Industry,’ and ‘Karma.’
