TRS protests over paddy procurement

Hyderabad, April 6 : As part of its five-pronged agitation against the on government over paddy procurement, leaders and cadres of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Wednesday staged demonstrations by squatting on national highways in different parts of the state. Besides, party leaders and workers, Ministers, MLAs and MPs too took part in the protest braving the scorching summer sun. All highways were affected including the one linking Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Free movement of traffic on the national highways was affected, forcing the police to shift the protesters to police stations. The ruling party’s campaign is in response to TRS Working President and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao’s call for protests in mandal headquarters on April 4, block national highways on April 6, at district headquarters on April 7, black flags atop houses in all villages on April 8 and a ‘Chalo Delhi’ march on April 11.
