Hyderabad, April 4 : Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Monday launched a five-pronged agitation against the BJP-led NDA government over paddy procurement issue. Ministers, party MPs, MLAs and public representatives took part in the protests including hunger strike at all mandal headquarters across the state. A large number of party cadres too participated in the protests braving the summer heat. Ministers and legislators, who staged the protests, vociferously demanded that the Centre should purchase paddy from the state farmers. It may be mentioned that the TRS Working President and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao had recently called upon the party cadres to stage protests in mandal headquarters on April 4, block National Highways on April six, sit on deeksha in the district headquarters on the next day, hoisting of black flags atop houses in all the villages on April 8 and Chalo Delhi on April 11. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who is now in the National Capital, is expected to mobilise support for the agitation demanding that the Centre should procure paddy grown in the state in the ongoing rabi season. According to reports, Rao hopes to get an appointment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the paddy crisis. SMS CS1415
